The US Department of War is partnering with industry and academia on a multi-phase CTMA initiative to demonstrate a modified commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) advanced braking and suspension system that has proven effective on newer commercial vehicles. The technology will be integrated into a legacy military vehicle to demonstrate improved reliability, readiness, and safety and reduce maintenance and sustainment costs.
Phase VI will build upon earlier phases’ accomplishments by expanding the operational demonstration of retrofit installations across additional vehicle fleets and operational environments. This phase will also validate sustainment strategies, refine maintenance and logistics processes, and establish long-term support frameworks for retrofitted vehicles.
